Freelance Web Designer in Leeds - Optimisation

Optimisation

If your beautiful brand spanking new site isn't properly optimised from the start, then you are already losing potential business to your competitors.

What is SEO?

Search Engine Optimisation is the business of ensuring your web site will be found by Search Engines such as Google, Yahoo, Bing etc.

In a basic sense there are 2 ways to go about proper SEO.

  1. Paid for search - this you do by having a Google AdWords account where you set keyword strategies for your site and pay per click from potential visitors clicking on the 'sponsored links'.
  2. Natural search - otherwise known as White Hat SEO will last you a long time and hopefully, with the addition of new content and links to your site, will actually improve your search ranking over time.

Is Natural Search Free

YES.

HOW?

By ensuring good quaity content is on your site (which we can help with) as well as proper mark-up (code) on your designated keywords, which is standard, with all sites we design and build.

Why pay to get your web site ranked high in a web search engine such as Google or Yahoo.

Search engine optimisation is the process of choosing the content, format, and mark-up(tagging) of your web site, along with a few other tricks.

We carefully ensure that your keyword strategy reflects the hierarchy of your textual content.

We optimise all web sites as part of the service.

Example of Google search

Google search

This screenshot shows the sponsored links which are 'paid for' - outlined in red.

In this example, a search has been made for 'band photography' - which just so happens to be one of our sister sites and there it is, ranked just below the images on the first page of Google.

Google has displayed the images at the top for this search, as this is what people are usually searching for when the term 'photography' is used, however, Google is smart, and if the term 'photographer' was used it would not return images at the top.

Web Accessibility

Around ten per cent of web users have a visual or physical impairment so your web site needs to be easy to see and use. Text to speech browsers, and users without a mouse rely on special code within your web site to be able to use it easily, that's why all our sites adhere to the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.

Cross Browser Compatibility

Because there are many different Web Browsers in use around the world that run on desktops, PDA's even on mobile phones, your web site needs to work on the majority if not across all of them. You may only use one browser, i.e.. Internet Explorer, and therefore you would not realise that your site looks different to someone else who may be using a different browser, a different version of Internet Explorer, or indeed a mobile device such as the iPhone.
